Editing Preview

Hello Chris,

I've noticed that when you preview your post, it becomes read-only. I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature; on most sites if you hit preview you're presented with both the preview and a second text box that you can edit.

Thanks for all your work keeping the old site alive and migrating it to the new software. Data migration is never easy.

I don't see a preview pane - a 'post reply'...then it immediately posts it.

I see what you mean. It works differently than our old preview. With this, you press the Preview button (or icon on the phone) and it's "in Preview Mode" and looking as it would if it were a completed post. To go back to editing, click the preview button again. It's not intuitive since the Preview button goes gray while you're in that mode, but it still works when you click it.

That's what I see too. No preview at all.
Are you not seeing it this way. The red arrow points to it:

Thanks Chris!
It was right in my face the whole time. I knew the Preview button was still active after I clicked it; I just didn't realize it was toggling between edit and preview modes.

One thing, on the phone interface or conversations, it shows up as an icon instead of having the word.

I'm on a desktop, no word here, just the icon.

Makes no difference though, I never use preview, just proofread before hitting post.
I just realized, it's the size of the window. I noticed that my firefox window was squished own pretty far and showing the icon, as I expanded it out, when it hit the point where the width was enough, it changed to the word. Then if you shrink the size of the window horizontally, it will go back to the icon.

Having a separate preview window, like the old Modern View was a bit easier for me as you could find things in the preview and correct them in the text box as you previewed your post, then click preview again to see it with the corrections. Now you have to go in and out of preview to make changes or try to remember all of them when you go out of preview.

Agreed. It would have been nicer if they'd displayed a separate window.
