I installed a pertronix ignition on my 44 and was curious if you wire the red wire to a 12 volt source or can it be put on the positive side of the coil. thanks

It can be on the positive side of the coil (which is 12V anyway), that is how I wired my 202. Assuming your tractor is negative ground that should work just fine.

I have a resister on the hot side before going to
positive side of coil, would that cause less voltage
