electric motor

Hey folks.

I have been trying to find a motor for the blower on my corn stove which is no longer available from the mfg.

I searched high and low on the net and at my local electric supply. I found a motor but to my dismay it turned the wrong direction! To my amazement it still kinda moved air.

I am inclosing a couple of pics and hope that someone can help me out in finding the right motor.

Thanks in advance, Brad

Do a search for motors for wood furnaces. I usually get them through Grainger about as cheap as anywhere. Or try some of your local wood furnace dealers for help.

I did swap the stator once on a non reversible water pump motor, and put it on my air compressor. I think I
have the rotor and stator offset a little, it draws a lot of amps when starting, but it's been running the
compressor for almost 20 years. Most motors can be reversed electrically, but not pump motors, as it would
unscrew the impeller and damage it.

Brad,

Could you provide more info on your motor. What direction does the original motor turn? Is that a 1/4 or 5/16 inch shaft? Is there an amp rating? Looks like a 3.3 inch motor.

It may be possible to use the motor that turns the opposite direction by finding a fan blade that matches motor rotation. What diameter is your current fan?
