Electrical Connectors for JD 4020

I have a 4020 with some wiring issues. I want to work through each circuit and re-wire the whole thing. The circuits are pretty simple but I would like to use new
connectors that will match with the existing sensors, lights, etc. Is there a good place to purchase these connectors and do they have a name for this style? Does
anyone have a kit for making your own wiring harness? Thanks!

X2 - Agri-Services. The all-time easiest way to rewire your tractor. Everything fits and all connectors are correct.

I converted my 4010 to 12 volt and replaced all the wiring as well a few years ago. Learned a lot along the way. Deere has those terminals you mentioned but I wasnt real happy with them. Shoot me your email and Ill send you some tips and pics on my wiring. My email should be open.

As stated, all you need to search for us Delphi series 56 and you will find everything you want / need

Here is the problem:
You will need a crimp tool, that s about $100
You will have to but various size connectors for wire size
You will need various style plastic connectors
You will need various size wire and various colors
You will need shielding to contain the wires in a harness.

Unless you plan on rewiring several tractors. Your better off just buying a new harness from Afro-Services

There isnt anything in a common kit wont fit. I looked at the mess one day and simply stripped every wire off, use a delco alternator and if you really want the nuts replace starter with a Nippon Denso, last starter for it you will work on. About 1/2 bushel of wire came off. Needs about 4 or 5 wires to work, all that crap was due to 24V and trying to use those junk Delco starters.

I got a wiring harness from Steiners for a newer Oliver. It was well made with all ends soldered and all wires plenty long. I had a diagram and it matched pretty well. I ended up with some extra wires I think were for some differences over the years. Just made sure that everything that should work did work and taped off the extra wires. It was pricy, but quality and time saving were worth it. Some frustration, but not excessive for old tractors and the old people working on them!

I've got a 3020D the harness has been hacked, neglected, and the battery converted to 12v negative ground instead of 2 12s with one pos and one negative. Wouldn't putting a factory harness on it cause issues with the wiring for components that need to be switched from positive ground to negative ground? (Fuel gauge comes to mind, but there are others)

If it has an generator then it has a negative ground.
If it has an alternator then it s a positive ground
24V or 12V system?
two 6 volt batteries in series or two 12 volt batteries in parrall?

Explain what you have to Agri-Services and they can help you out.

JD tractors from factory with generator were positive ground.
Majority of tractors with alternator are negative ground.
JD 24 volt charging/starting system had "no ground".

yes that is correct.

Well, since mine has been converted it no longer matters, but talking about the components OTHER than the starting/charging system, weren't some of them run off one battery as "positive ground",and others run off the other battery as "negative ground"? Just trying to understand, since I pretty much have to rewire all those components anyway- lights, fuel gauge, etc... I just figured a harness set up "as stock" would not work for a converted system.

Yes later model electrical accessories on a JD 24 volt system were grounded by a single wire with preferably a 20 amp fuse that attached to rear post on LH battery which was + post. Battery cable connected to + battery post crossed over to connect on - post at the rear post of RH battery. 1/2 accessories were + ground & other 1/2 of accessories were - ground.

JD 24 volt wiring harness can be relatively easy to convert to operate on "12 volts only" if one understands the this system
