While working on my 6 volt 8N the fan belt came off a pulley and stuck between it and the engine. When I went to fire her up a faint "pop" was heard from somewhere under the left side of the hood, then silence. With the fanbelt back in position, absolutely nothing happens when pushing the starter. What did I fry? Don"t know anything about electricity.

Thanks much.

mbpohio......probably fried yer roundcan starter solenoid on top of yer starter motor ...or... you popped the end OFF of yer starter solenoid and the remains are best left in the storage space under yer tranny with the cotter-key drains.

Quick check; learn how to "jump-start" yer engine by first clamping enny polarity 12v battery to yer copper buss-barr starter stud. Then with yer tranny in NEUTRAL and ignition key ON; GROUND the other 12v battery post to yer rusty foot boards and watchout for starter spinning and starting the engine. ...BAD SOLENOID... Iff'n starter spins but NO CRANK the engine over, guess what??? BAD BENDIX drive.

Iff'n you can't figger out what to do from these 2-simple tests, post back ......Dell
