Electronic Ignition Question

In relation to converting a Tea20 to Electronic ignition I have seen various conversion kits such as Pertronix etc and notice that they simply replace the points and condensor in the Lucas distributor and the 2 wires of the unit are simply connected to the coil and there is no Ignitor as seen on cars.
Why do electronic distributors on cars have an ignitor and not on these tractors and do the 2 wires from the ignitor simply connect to the + and - power supply of the ignition switch?
Many thanks
Brad

I think I can answer this. As the ignition system on early vehicles use an individual coil to increase the voltage to the spark plug, newer systems
use individual coil packs for each cylinder or a fully electronic system that does away with the distributor. The upgrade electronic ignitions for
these tractor actually only replaces the points/condesor with an electronic sensor to provide the switch to send power from the coil to the spark
plugs. This is very similar to systems that were on Chrysler product in the ?70s.

The pertronix and similar systems only removes the point to give a more reliable switch that never needs to be adjusted for gap, cleaned of
corrosion or just worn out. And of course give you a more reliable engine.
