Got a call from my dad the other day, seems the bil couldn"t get my dads tractor going. Something about the battery going dead and now wouldn"t start even with a boost. So off i go to have a look, starter would spin but not engage the flywheel, hmmmm, thinking the battery might not have enough power i ask my bil if he has cables. nope, no cables but he has a charger, so i go to hook it up and he says no you cant hook it up that way cause the tractor has a positive ground. I tell him it dosn"t matter positive is still positive and negative is still negative, on go the cables and guess what.... sparks!!! See he says you have to put the ground on the positve and the positive on the ground cause of the backwards english system of positive ground. It seems that for some reason the battery got run flat and he charged it backwards. So thinking that the two year old electronic ignition would be fried i took the battery out turned it around and reconnected, i was amazed to hear it start up. Now i just have to see if the generator still works. Now if I could only understand his logic on the positive negative thing but i think thats like understanding women i have no clue there either.
