Electronic ignition/ timing advance

John Deere 2010, my timing advance is rusted and spings are weak so it doesn't move freely. I am considering converting to electronic ignition, if I do does the timing advance still need to be fixed of does the electronic ignition bypass the timing advance? Can I buy just the advance/ springs or do I have to replace the distributor? delco 1112 623 1L16

You can buy the springs in a kit. The advance still needs to work even with electronic ignition.
