electronic ignition

I am planning to convert my 1952 "H" to electronic ignition. How do I know what distributor I have? What kit should I order? The serial # is FBH377319X.

If the distributor is horizontal and Has IH serial # or IH cast into it it is the original IH distributor. If it is vertical and at an angle with the cap pointing upish. it is likely delco. Numbers will be on either one. Jim

Most that year came with the IH distributor.
If It mounts horizontal its probably a IH.

Here is my "H" electronic ignition. I used a Chrysler 360ci distributor and bought a Mr. Gasket curve kit for the advance, used the light springs. I machined the distributor to fit and used the gear from the original distributor.

Slick! Did you modify dist to fire 4X per revolution or leave it at 8X.

Joe, 6 or 12 volt?

If it's still 6 you should be aware that the least little voltage drop and the 6 volt systems will not fire where 12 volt isn't as badly effected by voltage drop.

The Delco Remy and Prestolite both are horizontal check to see which one you have.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I used every other terminal on the cap and plugged the unused terminals with R.T.V. Also note, I filed every other lobe off the reluctor. The timing curve is very close to the the "H" wants. I used a adjustable timing light and set the total timing at 1815 R.P.M. My electrical system is 12 volts. The distributor cap clearance is close to the sheet metal, but it clears. Jerry
