Electronic ignition

1950 Suoer A has been converted to 12v with points and condenser. I'm wanting to replace with Pertronix electronic ignition and Flame thrower coil. Do I need to keep the 3 ohm resistor in the circuit for this conversion?

If you have any questions with the EI contact Pertronix. They will help you out and not steer you in the wrong direction where EI is destroyed.

RickyL Pertronix makes 2 ignitons for the Farmall. 1442 and 91442. 1442 takes 3.0 to 4.5 ohm coil. 91442 takes 0.6 to 3.5 ohm coil. You could also use MSD Ignition box. Take out condensor use points and hot coil and you get 3 sparks each firing. Plus a lot hotter spark. Mount the box out of sight and no one will know any different. Lynn

Second the MSD 5 . Points will last forever or until I'll the rubbing block wears out. You will have crazy spark.

Be sure of your polarity when ordering Positive ground units will let the smoke out permanently if attached to a Negative ground alternator equipped or generator equipped system. Jim
Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I will look at the MSD ignition also.

I've changed several over, and no the resistor is not needed. Just be sure to get the correct voltage and polarity electronic ignition.
