Electronic Ignition

Looking for information on converting my 1948 8N to 6V Positive Ground Electronic Ignition. Has anyone hand any luck doing this? Were there other parts that had to be changed/converted?

It's apparently easy enough to do. I would get the kit with the conversion to a "round-can" coil included.

Rumor has it the 6 Volt units can fail to spark as the battery gets weak during cranking and the electronics run short of voltage. 12 Volt units are better for this reason

Check with Petronix

Im fairly sure they make electronic ignition switches for 6 volts and Pos or Neg ground.

In order to get the most bang for the buck and utilize the advantages that elec switch has to offer, I would also use a high energy high voltage coil (let Pertronix match coil to switch) and run a little wider plug gap.

Best wishes
