Eliminate Hydraulic Motor on Implement

I have an Ellis transplanter (used to plant garlic, onions, peppers, etc.) and it has it's own battery, hydraulic motor, reservoir and ram. The motor is run by a toggle switch between the seats, and the ram is single action (hydraulic up, gravity down). Recently the motor went out on me and before I buy a new one I was thinking of using the tractor rear remotes instead. However, I'd still want the up/down action to be controlled by the people on the seats (so the driver can focus on driving straight). Any advice on how to come off the rear remotes of a dual action valve (on a Kubota L3901 or Farmall 806), and run to a valve or switch and then on to the single action ram?

Use a power beyond plate and an adjustable priority valve for power steering If using a remote, the control lever probably needs to be bungied on. The priority valve diverts pressure without dead heading the system. Jim

Like Jim said only since the 806 has 2 separate pumps you don't need the priority valve in it. Just the flow control to control speed of the cylinder on your transplanter. You could With A remote valve placed on the transplanter let the ones on it control the cylinder or you could from the tractor. The flow control could also be mounted on the transplanter with the remote valve so they could adjust the speed to fit planting speed.

All you need is a simple open center spool valve. No need for power beyond plates or priority valves.

Just install the remote valve in place of the hydraulic power unit. Connect the IN and OUT to one of the tractor remotes, and latch/bungee the remote lever to provide flow. They'll have to operate a lever instead of a switch.

You can get fancy and have an electric over hydraulic spool valve if you think they can't figure that out, but you can do the simple spool valve for <$100, and the electric over hydraulic valve will be much more expensive.

12V hydraulic power units like you see on dump trailers can be had for <$200.

As Barnyard says.

Put in a simple hyd control, detention or strap the tractor hyd lever on. Oil will flow smoothly through the open center hyd control until they pull the lever.

If you need to control the speed of the transplanter ram so it is slow, or consistent, you would need to put in a flow controller and adjust it for different tractor flow rates.
Simple deal but adds expense and more hoses.

Thanks all! I had to get garlic planted before it rained last night, so as a short term solution I just ran a hose from one of the remotes to the ram. The tractor operator had to control the raising/lowering rather than the people in the transplanter. After finishing everyone felt that was better anyways, so I'll just keep it that way.
