im looking for the front drop box off of where the belt pulley mounts for an m farmall. looking for any information that i can and any pictures or parts would help.

Do you have substantial amounts of cash burning a hole in your pocket?

The last tractor I saw with an early Elwood sold for $16,000+ last winter at a PA auction.

good luck, no offense but I don't think you will find one anytime soon, and most people that have one won't want to give it up. And if they do want to give it up, if they know what it is worth, they will want some serious dough for it. Good luck in the hunt

has anyone found the plans or patent dimensions for the drop chain box off of the belt pulley housing. i was currius how difficult it would be to manufacture my own. id like to put a front wheel assist under an m and a 450. the front axle appears to be a spicer front end but i could be wrong. building the axle mount seams simple enough but the drop box seams to be the difficult part?

You still haven't bothered to look at the 15 or so pictures I have posted on this site over the last 10 years.

You appear to be under the assumption that the transfer case is nothing more than a belt pulley gearbox with a special extension. Wrong. Now go look at the pictures.

Could I reverse engineer and build an Elwood for you? Yep, but Howie Long could sell you a new 4X4 Chevy truck for less.

The auction was held on 6 Dec 08. The auctioneer was McGrew. He had bought 9 Coleman/IH tractors and one Elwood/IH660 from a collector in Ohio. McGrew resold them plus a bunch of other tractors at his PA site.

Now, I am not certain of this but McGrew might also own Seven Valleys Equipment in south east PA. The business is a few miles north of the MD border. It might be near York, PA. I don't know who is the current owner of the Elwood/IH660 or where it went.

All the MFD drive tractors were simultaneously listed with eBay and there were lots of pictures with the eBay auctions. A completed sale listing might be available at McGrew's Auction website. Try google.
