email alerts

imo, there are way too many different alert categories. any chance of getting a "disable all" button for them?

Hello Swamp Dweller welcome to YT! Here is the deal, you may find that the actual “Alerts” are very useful. YT just adopted the current format you see at the end of 2023, I don’t even want to conjure up any memories of the previous software that was used here although it’s Search feature had some things I really liked that this new format won’t do but I digress. I just past the 10,000 post mark here so trust me, how the software interacts with my posting is important to me. There are only 3 boxes that you check/uncheck that have to do with determining whether you receive a email about a post or not. The “Alerts” are a whole different deal, they are internal to the software. Maybe you are a forum guru and this is “preaching to the choir” if so my apologies. The Alerts only trigger a number on the “Alert Bell” icon at the top, they have nothing to do with your email. I have all Alerts in my Preferences checked. I will reply to multiple post on any given day. There is often a possibility that a post I replied to will not get a reply for several days. When someone replies to that post it come up in my Alert list accessed by clicking the Alert Bell icon on top as mentioned before. The “Alerts” drop down in a list with the title of the thread, a preview of the reply and a link to go to the thread. I find it extremely useful to follow the discussion in the Threads I have replied in. And FYI, I rarely start new Threads I am more of a purveyor of helpful information than anything else or at least I hope this is the opinion of many here LOL!

I have never received an email, and like mentioned, there are only three email alert options. Surely clicking three boxes isn’t too big of a task.

my bad. i saw the word email with the 3 and just imagined it was with all of them. now i've got who knows how many i need to recheck. it won't be 54, but it will be quite a few more than 3.

upon further review, i never said a word about email. my failing memory just took it and ran with it when emphasized and in fact have one of those three enabled.

i really did mean alerts, and i found myself disabling more than half of them.

LOL, thread title. i remember when i used to be able to remember things

anyway, i realize it probably doesn't matter now, as i'm likely the only one who would use it and i'd already dealt with all the boxes manually when i posted the thread.

Sorry, I read the email part into it thinking you might have been blaming it for causing you to get a bunch of emails. Being a fairly new to YT platform a bunch of those items aren’t even being used so being checked causes no activity. And remember to get an Alert you have to initiate the action by placing a post or reply, it is not like every post made here is going to flood your alert box. It will only show the most recent 20 I believe is the number. I like to needle Ford guys, (thus the Hank name) there are a few overbearing ones on here. Oh boy, if one of them sees this there might be a whole swarm of them show up.. like mosquitoes buzzin around and biting.
