TO20- Having had this tractor since 1992- My dad enjoys riding around the farm on it until last spring when he had it blow up on him. Piston arm went through side of block (tractor's governor stuck wide open) . Still have single piece of block, that blew out. My question is can the block be mended and I'm hunting for reliable person to rebuild engine. I live in West Central Illinois, would like to hold travel time to around 4 hrs. one way. NEED YOUR HELP , Thanks Kurt :D

Kurt, Try Chapin Machine & Welding. It sounds like they are near you. 217-472-5121. If they can't fix it, it can't be fixed.

Thanks, Del

Kurt,
If the plug knocked out of the block was not part of a bearing support, water jacket, or sleeve support it may be possible to simply braze it back in place. The cast iron cannot be satisfactorily welded but brazing works well. I had a friend that drag raced Fords and some of his blocks had two or more brazed repairs (he tended to keep his foot in the carburetor too long before shifting). If you have the existing engine repaired have the rebuilder check it for crank and bearing alignment.
