have a perkins 4 cylinder. only numbers I find are A04-J9541P trying to find head, and gasket, cannot find family of engine or even what it is. thanks in advance

Look near the block/head line, towards the front, if I recall correctly.

MF sold Perkins to Caterpillar in 1988. If your engine was made after 1988. May want to try going to CAT.

A spec sheet for a Gehl 6625 says they used a Perkins 204.30, 183 cu in (3L) diesel

The stamped identification/serial number may be on the left side, near the front of the block, just below the block/head interface.

Houston you have a big problem there. if the head looks like that what do the cylinders look like ? using starting fluid on it? even the cat skid steers have perkins engines in them. kinds wondering why u dont contact the dealer for info on this engine. probably best to look for another engine, as who knows what else is going on with that one including running it hot .

it ran good, cylinders look very good. dealers are not helpful on the older stuff, after I bought it I was reminded how I dislike t handle controls. so after I do some projects will go up for sale, buy something smaller.
