engine kits

I'm having a tough time figuring out which kit is the best one...are all kits equal? I mean if I buy a engine kit from Tisco the sleeves are from Taiwan, the main bearings are from Clevite, the rod bearings are imported so on a so forth. so my question is, are all kits equal in reliablity, specs, metalurolgy (however you spell that) etc. etc.? Do I just look for the best price with the most warranty? thanks for any input, Please don't bother beating me up the cost of restoring this thing will do that...

Kits are offered competitively. Most build the kit with parts that do not result in major dissatisfaction. Thus they are not much different from each other. If a person spent 4 days researching the country of origin, and build quality of each element, you could put together a set of parts that would cost 3 times as much because you wern't muying it in quantity. I would go with Tisco as they have not been badmouthed here. JimN
