engine problem

I started my Farmall SM and fuel ran out the vent pipe on the right side of the engine. Its a Farmall SM F-10139. What is the problem

Sounds like the fuel leaked int to the oil pan by way of the carb. If that is true and you ran it very long you may have a real bog problem other then just needed an oil change and you shutting the gas off when you park it

Think about it a bit. Gas tank sits higher then the carb and manifold so if the float leaks gas fills the whole carb and then in turn flows past the rings and valves etc into the oil pan. Plus gas can flow into the engine on a Farmall by way of the gov tube. Ya there is suppose to be a gas drain hole in the carb but many times those get clogged up. I have seen many an old tractor engine that was over full in the oil pan and it was a mix of gas and oil which is not good. Drained more then 5 gal of gas and oil mix out of a 9N ford s couple years ago and have also done that on a 450 Farmall

Look at how the gas tank sits. It is above the carb and manifold so if the float needles does not stop the gas it can flow into the carb and fill it up to the point gas runs into the cylinders and past the rings and into the oil pan plus also on the Farmall the gov tube lets gas flow into the pan. Always a good thing to shut off the gas at the bottom of the tank when you park a tractor. Couple of years ago I drained more then 5 gal of gas/oil mix out of a 9N Ford and also saw that happen on a Farmall 450

First think to check is how much overfull the oil level is. Also the carburetor has a drain for the air inlet on the bowl bottom with a small hole and packing under the hole disc. It should not be stopped up to drain any overflow gas in the carburetor. But may not handle it all if needle and seat or other problem is leaking fast enough.

Thanks for help. I drained the oil and gas and changed the filter. I put in fresh fuel and opened the valve. When I went to start it I noticed fuel dripping out of the choke. The choke was closed. I pulled the air intake line and fuel poured out. And the tractor still won't start.

The needle and seat are not seating. Could be debris in the seat or maybe the float is cracked, filling with gas and sinking.
Sounds like a carburetor repair is in order.
Not that difficult. good luck
