Engine question

OK I have the engine tore down (stamping 8153152) It looks like .040 sleeves to me. I'll make sure in the morning. All of the bearings says Ford T - A2 which I think is standard sized. The bearings really don't look that bad but the sleeves are worn with the ridge being real close to .020.

Now when I do a car/truck engine I mic the crank and do what is needed and I figure on doing the same with this. I also always install a new oil and water pump (cheap insurance). Besides smoking bad the tractor would idle at about 38 PSI when cold and run about 45 at throttle. Last time I ran it the oil pressure would go up as stated then as the tractor warmed up would drop to zero below 1/2 throttle and would hold about 5 psi at WOT.

So I want to insure that I'm getting the correct parts when I order and I'm thinking I have to rebuild the oil pump. I will be doing something with the water pump as there is a little play in the shaft.

Any advice or tips? Do I need to get the tools for adjusting the valves?

Thanks

Rick

Rick, just to be safe, I'd mic the camshaft even though it is a low wear item.

Check out the oil pump overhaul guides on the other board for a refresher.

The valve adjusting tools require some fussing and since you have it torn down, you may consider drilling the lifter bosses to accept a dowel.
