Engine reassembly lube?

Looking for the general consensus on assembly lube. I'm working on a 404 engine in a JD4430 and I'm wondering what everyone uses for lube on the crank journals.

30W oil, lithium grease, gun grease, special assembly lube, as long as it's lubed.

I mix some engine oil with Lucas oil additive.. The Lucas makes the oil a bit sticky and it will stay in place...I keep some in a smaller oil can just for this..

General consensus won't exist I'm thinking, I prefer white lithium grease for everything except pistons and rings where motor oil is used.

I've seen it done all kinds of ways. I think as long as there is some kind of lube in there.

I went and got some Lubri-plate assembly lube. Looks like white lithium. I used to use a red assembly lube but couldn't find any without ordering.

I use STP oil additive right out of the bottle.

Don't use motor oil on rings and cylinder.

Use what then? Or do you install dry???

I've always oiled them.
