Engine replacement for LT155

My JD LT155 has a seized engine. The original was a 15 HP Kohler Command CV15S-41562. Was wondering what my options are for replacing this with an alternative engine, whether another Kohler or other manufacturer.

ow the heck did you seize a Kohler?
It had to have been run without oil or someone ran lacquered gas in it to do that kind of damage.
Those are well made engines and don't usually seize without help. I would rebuild it if the crank is still good. A bore job, piston, rings, wrist pin, bearings and gaskets would be cheaper than a new motor.

On repower, the big thing is the diameter and length of the crankshft end so it wil lash up with the drive line stuff like clutch and pulleys.

google up surplus center and see what they have if you are thinking of going with something without the big name. Only thing that may crop up is an exhast mod issue.

Go to www.jimsrepair.jimstractors.com/engines.htm . He has repower kits for abt anything using Vangard engines. A 318 replacement is around $1300.00 as I remember.

Before spending anything. At least take a walk through the JD dealer and price what they have there new. Sometimes a new lawn tractor is only a few bucks different from an engine swap.
You raise a few bucks by selling the LT155 to somebody who thinks they can swap engines for $300.00.
Plus you get all new bearings, belts, tires, transmission, deck a year's warranty etc. No dents, dings, scrapes and rips.
