Engine serial number

I just got a case hi-crop home and need some help. The tractor is really rough and has no sheet metal. I think it is a 733 diesel based on the engine but not sure. The engine serial number is 2088737. Cant read the model number. The tractor has a single transmission shift lever. Are there any other numbers which will help identify what it is?

Don't know for sure but you might look on the left side at the engine flange next to the bell housing. Might have the tractor serial number there. Not sure when they stopped putting it on there.

Single stick sounds like 400 or 700/800. Does it have Case-O-Matic trans? If you read the engine SN from a tag on the injector pump drive gear housing, it should also have the engine cubic inches stamped into that tag. 301 would be 830, 267 would be either very early 730, or 700 with standard tranny, 800 with COM. 730 could be either way on trans.

This tractor is manual transmission not COM. The engine serial number tag is not legible on the model number. The engine has the high third stage final fuel filter near the radiator which I thought may be different from the hundred series. I will have to check the engine flange for possible serial number. I wasn't sure if the 730's were offered with a straight shift. The ones I have been around we're all dual range. That's what threw me.
