Engine Squeak

Trying to start my 9N, which has sat outside for 3 years without running. I have good spark, still working with a fuel problem, but I have a horrible squeak coming from the front of the engine when it turns over. I lossened the belt to make sure it's not the generator or water pump and they are not the problem. Nothing seems to be rubbing and it sounds to be in front of the govenor. Hoping someone else has had this problem and can help. Thanks in advance.

Maybe just corrosion build up on seals , or bearings from sitting that long without any movement . My generator has a small oil hole at the ends for a drop of lube . I know my joints get kinda squeekie when I sit to long .Make sure radiator & engine have sufficient fluids

Does the squeak seem to be coming from outside or inside the engine? If outside, it could be generator or water pump. If inside, that could be bad news. Rod and main bearing will squeal with no oil pressure which your probably has after sitting for 3 years. Do you have any oil pressure when you turn it over? There is a 15/16" (I think) bolt head by the water pump. If you take it out, there is a spring in there. Take this out also. Then squirt oil in the hole until it is full. This will help prime the oil pump. Then try turning it over.

Danny; Thank you so very much! Did what you suggested and the squeak stopped at once. She starts and runs at last. Now it seems I may have a clutch that is not disengageing, I"ll serach the posts and see what I can find on that next. Thanks again!!

Yer clutch could just be, and after sitting for 3 years, may just be just rusted to the flywheel, you may git it unstuck and it be fine.

On the other side of the coin you may have a front tranny seal leaking dope on yer clutch, and have to break it and replace that, and clean it all up.

At this point, I am going for the rust.

There are many ways to get it broke loose.

Maybe the guys will chip in on them.

That's good news on the squeak.

As Dunk said, the clutch is probably rusted to the flywheel. Block the clutch petal down overnight and see if it pops loose. If not, keep it block down and in high gear. Then using the rear tires, rock the tractor back and forth and see if it breaks loose. If that doesn't do it, try pulling it in high gear with another vehicle with the petal blocked. Sometimes stuck clutches can be a bear to break loose. If these tips don't work post back and we'll give you some more help.

Danny,I tried your sugestions even started it in gear and drove it a little ways and the clutch is still stuck. Do you know of any other ways to free up a clutch? I'm hoping not to have to split the tractor, as I really dont know if I am capable of doing that myself. Thanks again for all the help.
