engine stopping

I have a craftsman riding mower with a Briggs and stratton 15.5 hp ohv motor. the motor was replaced a few years back and is fairly new and been maintained regularly. The problem is when the mower has been running for approximatively 15-20 minutes it shuts off. then it will start back up again after a few minutes. I am thinking that it may be a carb problem but need advice from the experts on this
thanks in advance

First thing to do is isolate problem to fuel system, tractor safety sw's/wiring harness or on eng, fuel system possible cause's-plugged/bad vent on tank cap,bad fuel lines, air leak in lines, gas filter that needs replacement, weak fuel pump,dirt/water in carb bowl, loose elect connection at fuel shutoff sol, internal problem in shutoff sol.
Safety sw's/wiring harness-loose seat sw,seat sw going bad, wiring harness is chaffed & has a short in it to chassis,loose/bad relay(s) associated with safety sw's(if tractor has)bad ign sw
On eng-ign module going bad & breaking down from heat, bad oil pressure sw or plugged/restricted oil filter, kill lead from ign module nicked & shorting to eng sheet metal covers due to heat/vibration,valve clearences that need an adj & become excessive when eng gets hot or carbon buildup on valve stem(s) causeing valve to stick when eng hot.

Make sure you have a good flow of gas to the carburetor from the tank. Your carburetor may need a good cleaning if old gas was left in over the Winter. Hal

Yas-stick a needle into the little hole, in the gas cap, wiggle it around, and then try it. Also, try removing the cap, start the engine and don't drive it, just wait to see if it still stalls.
