engine swap

My Husqvarna YTH2148 needs its dead Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 21 horse engine replaced. Small Engine Warehouse suggests a B&S Vanguard 23 horse replacement but notes that while the shaft and mounts are identical some modifications may be necessary, for example the wiring. How difficult is an engine swap and how many modifications should I expect?

Wiring should be the same unless you have the backfire valve or the wire to the oil filter on one and not the other.But you will not know untill you receive new engine.

Depending on alt stator/flywheel,you may have to swap stator/flywheel from old eng to new eng due to fact briggs used 7 different stators & 3 different flywheels(magnet size)you'll have to see what's on new eng.
