When checking Case-O-Matic pressure It should be made at governor engine speed. May I have Clarity of what governor engine speed is.Thanks in advance. CM

That would be WOT, that is what is always called governed speed.

casecollector, T always check those with the brakes locked, 4 th gear idling, using 4 th gear stops the gear train completely and gear splash is completely eliminated giving a more accurate reading. otherwise immediately on shutdown before the converter drains back would be acceptable. Checking after an overnite before starting would most likely find about an extra 2 inches of oil on the dipstick when properly filled.

I have never heard about putting the tractor in gear and locking the brakes to check the case o matic system. My manual states checking it
with the tractor idling only, nothing about being in gear. Will have to try it both ways to see if it makes a difference.

I don't have a good answer to your question but looking at the gauge on the dash of my 830 the PRESSURE stays the same no matter what the RPM's are. I check the oil level immediately after shutting the engine off.

CC, you will not find my way in any service info, I spent my life doing this type of work and it just makes sense that when the gear train is stopped you will get a more accurate reading because the oil will be still, not being churned around, I use the same method on Borg Warner shuttles and Carraro power shuttles in backhoes and Cases' own transaxle used in later K's. It is checking the level under actual operating conditions.

Interesting, one of my 830,s has a file mark about two inches above the fill level on the dipstick. I have checked the level after using the tractor with warm oil and again a few hours later and the oil is at the file mark.

I will check with portable gauges Monday morning and compare those against the permanent gauges on the 611-B. Thanks fellows.CM
