Equipment Problems

Seems like I had trouble with every piece of equipment I have lately. Most recently my 3 point fertilizer spreader PTO shaft came apart. I am looking for a u joint which measures 54mm cap to capx 22mm cap diameter . Ive found a few on the interenet, anybody know of the best source ?

Local implement dealer.Often times parts stores like NAPA;Orileys;Car quest stock those. especially if you are in 'farm country.Forget internet. Shop local!

Local NAPA said he would have tom order from internet. I just ordered it myself. Those small u joints are common in small equiupment agricultural PTO shafts. Not so much in automotive I guess.

If you have a truck driveline shop nearby try them. Small driveshafts off of transmission to drive hyd units for hoist and such. We have Inland truck parts.

Yep, a big parts store that specializes in big truck stuff can measure and search- if it's available, they can find it. They do stuff all the time for truck PTO units etc

I thought I would replace some of the hundred or so u-joints in my stepdad's old 1945 wrist-buster grader, a few of which were completely devoid of rollers. Guess again, special CAT only design and sizing, and $45 apiece- in 1975
