Estwing leather Handle

I replaced a favorite Estwing Hammer handle with leather washers I cut myself . There are a few Youtube videos on the subject . I had some nice leather offcuts so sharpened a piece of pipe and used it as a large wad punch to cut them round . Afterwards I drilled a centre hole and fed them onto the shank . To shape it I used a linisher to sculpt the form then soaked the whole lot in boiled linseed oil thinned down with turpentine , this swells the leather and really tightens the handle . I still use it after 30 years .
Removing the plate at the end is the hardest , but it's easily welded back on when finished .

You can buy or make replacement leather for restoring the handle. As mentioned, lots of videos on Youtube.

If you have any old leather belts, tool belts or leather boot soles, you could re-purpose them and cut them for a handle.

(quoted from post at 09:15:50 10/03/21) I was hoping for something less time consuming.

Estwing used to repair them under their warranty. I asked about that some years back here and got accused of being a cheapskate for expecting Estwing to honor the warranty. I've seen guys put wood on them and others rebuild them with leather. Mine tend to be "fixed" with multiple layers of friction tape. I adore the hammers, but I'm still disappointed Estwing won't honor the lifetime warranty that was the reason we bought them years back.

(quoted from post at 20:11:34 10/02/21) Is there any type of replacement for the Estwing leather stacked hatchet handle? Such a nice little hatchet, I would like to replace the rotted leather washers.
while back, someone on this site suggested using self-fusing repair tape to make a handle on something. I tried it and like it a lot for certain things.
