Ethanol Gas Question

Anyone running ethanol gas in their old Fergy's?
Mine is a 1957 TO-35 gas model

In our local area of west KY, I can still buy non ethanol gas, but am concerned that will be short lived.

So, if you are running ethanol gas in the old tractors, do you add any type additive to help the old tractor burn the ethanol gas or is it necessary?

I have seen at the local parts stores some type additive that you add to the tank that may give the ethanol gas a longer life cycle.

What about the gaskets in the carb, will they have to be changed out to burn the ethanol gas?

I have a 1958 Johnson boat motor, 18hp, it’s at the boat fix it place now, the tech said he is rebuilding the carb with gaskets and float that will withstand the ethanol gas.

Our regular gas fuel here has 10% alchohol in it. All I add when Ifill our55 gallon drum is Stabil per the label. I ave never had any fuel system issues with modern fuel.

I have a 1951 TO30 and I burn 10% all the time. I had a tank full last fall and it sat all winter with no fuel additive in it and this spring it started and never missed a beat. I have also burnt E85 in it with no problems.

I think there ought to be a class action lawsuit against the makers of ethanol. They never warned anyone about the destructive nature of it.Countless small engines such as weedeaters, chainsaws and the like have been ruined with that stuff sitting in the tank including mine!! It literally dissolves the little hoses for the primer.

Only prob. I have had is w/ any rubber parts in small engines. After market rebuild kits now available are mostly good-to-go for ethenol. Also small engines built w/i the last 20 years run so lean that ANY deposit buildup in carb causes prob. I have 1 new (tiller) engine that I have to drain it completely between uses. KB

here in n.y. tsc sells an additive called startron.$7.99 a bottle,it treats 48gallons.puts snap back in your engine.my 48te20 loves it.over winter i use marine formula stabil-3yrs NO issues.
