Just made me laugh, my neighbor who is a landscaper has a Bobcat digger, and also has a healer dog, stupidest dog I've ever seen, and bites, kills chickens etc. That idjit climbed up in the digger seat and chewed the joysticks off lol

I am thinking about buying a small excavator. Something the size of the 35 Bobcat. I have both a Bobcat and Kubota dealer nearby. Those are the two brands I would consider. Could I have some discussion on which one and why? Thanks, Ellis
I work on Excavators on a regular basis. I have a CAT 305 coming in next week for pins and bushings. Will probably have to cut the end off the stick and weld a new one on due to letting it go too long without replacement. Bobcat would probably be my last choice. The booms are made out of too thin of metal and I have welded a dozen or more back together that have been broken off. Some do have Kubota engines. I personally like a Komatsu. They are tough little machines and parts are fairly easy to get. If you are looking at a used machine, don't buy anything over about 3500 hours. Depending on how it was used and maintained, problems start to show up around those hours. If the main hydraulic pump goes out and fills the system with crud, you are looking at thousands of dollars to repair it. Be very careful and don't end up with a used "Gray Market" machine. You will find out real fast no one wants to help you get parts for it. I have a good friend in the used equipment business. He says that all the excavators are OK to a point but, some are way better than others. Do the research before you buy. Talk to the mechanic, not the salesman.

SANY equipment has become very popular in my area. I have 2 friends that have bought excavators in the last couple of months. I know very little about them except that one of the guys that bought one is a heavy equipment mechanic for the railroad and is a stickler for details. He says they use a lot of the same pumps and components as CAT and they have an Isuzu engine. Much cheaper than CAT and they have a great warranty.
