F-12 engine questions

Moving along on assembling the engine on my F-12 and have a couple questions. Took apart the oil pump for cleaning. I can't remember which way the pickup screen was oriented, does the screen half face the front or rear of the engine? Also, in gasket set I have a felt washer for the front cover. Don't recall one on teardown. Would it go in the front cover before installing the seal? To protect the seal from dirt and such? Thanks.

The screen seems to fit either way. I can't really think of a reason it would matter if the oil level was correct.

So felt washer goes in cover before actual seal is installed? If not I don't know how it would stay in place as the front pulley is installed.

Thanks again.

Senator, I looked at a cut away of engine and it looks like oil pickup is forward facing.
After crank is installed there is a round disc called oil slinger that goes on crank, if there was a felt washer it would go on after the slinger. The round seal goes in the cover before cover is installed. Hope that clears it up
for you.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the oil slinger. The ID on the felt washer seems to fit the OD of the front pulley seal surface, too big for the crank. It's probably no big deal if it's there or not, but I've got it, gotta use it!
