F-12 FINALLY on full rubber!

I know some of you guys followed my rebuild on this tractor over the past few years. Or maybe more like the past 5 years! About a week ago I decided to forget buying 40" tires and see if I could locate a set of 36" round spokes and maybe a decent set of used 36" tires. Didn't take but a few days and had my hands on both!!!

I've already logged around 40 miles on the tractor and I'm beyond happy! I need to get it on a dyno and see what kind of HP I'm actually getting. It'll hold 15 MPH even on some good hills. Starts out in high 3rd easily.

Wish I had been able to find those for my 14. I have over $1500 in tires and rims in mine, and that's just the rears.

I still have it. My future plan is to build another tractor using the original rear steel and maybe adapt steel to the wide front.

Wow. Looking at the height of the steering wheel, I'd of guessed that was an F-14. Why am I wrong? kelly

That's looks great! I wondered how much bigger tire would would ok on the 6" wide rim. I'm in the market for those same weights now. I missed out on getting a set for about $280 a while back.

Big Red, I never realized how many F-12 were retro fitted with updates over the years. Lots of F-12's got long brake handle and raised steering post. Some got new engine's with F-14 valve cover breather. The thing I find is you have to go back to the serial # to check for sure. The give away on most F-12 that look like F-14 is the 2 bolt radiator air breather seems that stayed on most.

IH had a field upgrade for the 12 to make it a 14, including a run of serial numbers. Many however were updated much later with 14 parts. There are many F14's with the 2 bolt air cleaner as that change came late in their production run so be careful with that one. One thing I start with is that the 14 has a universal joint close to the steering box, while the conversions usually have a rubber disc set up further away from the gear case.

And they tear up the yard, slide off of trailers when loading and unloading, and would ruin the floor in my shop. I like to drive mine around instead of just look at them.
