F-20 WF Pics

Just finished up mounting a Schwartz wide front on a F-20.
It came off an old Oliver- had to have new spindles turned to accept the IH wheels. New bearings, bushings, ball studs on the tie rods- the whole 10 yards. I had to fab up a new cradle to mount the top of the wide front to the underside of the frame.
I had a parts tractor and cut the lower part of the pedestal off- don't worry you purists, I have the original one that can be bolted back on if I want to change it back.
I took it out for a spin and it turns easy. Hope to paint it this spring.

did you have a tough time cuting the boster? Im toying around doing something like that with an IH wide front I have. Paul

I used a 4 1/2" grinding disc and went around as deep as I could. This got me most of the way through. I then took a sledge, gave it a wack and it popped off. A little more grinding and she was smooth. Cast iron was not too bad to cut.

There was considerable play between the shaft and the casting bolster. I installed a block and bearing on the cradle to secure it.

Just curious, why would you want a wide front on a F-20 and how do you use the starting crank with that front axle?

(quoted from post at 12:21:53 02/26/12) Good Job!!I did a similar one:SuperC wide front on an F12.It was a pretty easy job
Do you have any pictures of the super c front end on the f-12? im doing a cub lo-boy front end on my f-12 right now.

i bought a wide front that was on a f-20 but did not see how it was mounted as it was off when i went to pick it up. now have it on my M

That looks awesome, Eric!! How did you go about turning down the spindle? You would need a pretty big lathe to fit the spindle in because of the vertical part.
