f 40 56-57 differences

looking for info about differences between 56 and 57 year models of the f40. i"m seein some front grill changes from 56 to 57 (one screws on side and other is on top of center screen) are there others. also, serial tag on the 57 was melted in fire-is there a way to get info off of casting marks or is serial number gone for good,owner knows it was a 57 and thats it.

There is a date code the castings were made which will narrow down the manuf. date but will not get you the actual serial number.

The code for the trans mission case is on the left side near the steering arm and reads.

Letter # #. i.e. G-23-7 which would be July 23rd 1957. A for January etc. Note I was not used thus J=sept K=Oct L=Nov and M= Dec.

can you also tell if engine/trans/rear are still original from factory, is there a stamping that would link all three together.
is there a website to show age of continental z134 gas engines w/ serial number. tractor tag is gone??
