F20 manafold size

I have two Farmall F20's, a 1935 and a 1938 with 2 different exhaust pipe sizes. One has a 2" pipe and the other (1938) is 2-1/2". The 35' pipe is welded in - ususal poor cast weld job - could break it loose without to much trouble with the 38' having a threaded pipe - nice and tight. Both have the exact HF122-L manafold. Which one is correct or were there different sizes for different years. Thanks.

2" is correct. The 2 1/2" may be a repair for an earlier issue. If they were truely different parts, there would be different part numbers. I've had several F'20,they have all been 2".I had an 'old' distalate M once that had a two bolt flange, instead of the common pipe thread.Distalate F20 with a 'hot' manifold was different than a gas 'cold' manifold.

I have a 1939 F20 that my dad bought new that had a distillate manifold which I think was 2 1/2 inch. A couple of years ago I had to replace it with a new gasoline manifold. The new manifold came with the 2 inch pipe that fitted a farmall M muffler. I had to have a muffler shop make me an adapter so that I could use the old 2 1/2 F20 muffler that my dad had bought years ago and was still good. So apparently, like you said, the original F20 kerosene/distillate manifolds were 2 1/2 and gas manifolds were 2". But I am not sure if new F20s ever came with the gas manifold from the factory. Attached picture is my F20 with the new gas manifold and old muffler from the distillate manifold. Al
