f20 oil

What kind of oil should i put into my 1937 F20? I've had the head restored but the rest of the engine is untouched because it
looks pretty good. I'm ready to crank it over and don't want to cause any damage by using the wrong oil. Thanks!!

Diesel-rated 15W40 seems to be popular around here.
Lots of those tractors ran a long time on the oil
drained from the car. Any modern oil is better than
what was available when that tractor was new.

them old tractors have a lot of brg. clearance in the engines and i go with 20-50 most times or 10-40 is good. many people use the diesel 15-40 oil in them also. the only damage you will do is not having any oil in it.

Rotella 15-40 is my go-to oil for my old tractor fleet. Nearly ANY modern motor oil will work, and work well. As said earlier, older tractors often run with larger clearances, so a heavier oil will be better.

Just remember that the oil pump on that tractor only feeds low pressure oil to the two crankshaft ball & cam bearings, governor, and the trays under the connecting rod lowers. The rest is splash lubed. Remember to reach in and squirt some oil into the 4 connecting rod trays prior to the first starting.
