F20 radiator

How well does the f20 radiator cool? Specifically with transplanted engine? I'm worried that the stock f20 radiator won't cool well enough to keep larger engine cool.

I'm planning to start this project tractor soon and just trying to think ahead a little. I will be using a international 7.3l powerstroke out of super duty ford. Which should stay fairly cool as I won't be running it hard but not sure if the small f20 radiator will work.

I want to keep the tractor as close to stock as possible. Any ideas?
 
Years ago, my neighbor put an IH truck motor in one. Couldn't keep it cool. He put a hot water heater tank above the steering shaft for more capacity.

The F 20 Radiator is designed to cool a 230 cubic inch motor using a non pressurized thermosyphon system. Thats a 3.6 liter engine. Trying to cool twice as much engine, with a water pump, that is designed for a pressurized system is asking too much for that old core to handle. Not really a fan of repowered F series but I,ve seen a lot of them and they very rarely had the stock radiator.
 
What are you planning to do with it ? The radiator is pretty large and the water pump on the 7.3 will help but it is non pressurized so that takes away quite a bit . If you are just going to parade or drive I would think no problem. If you are going to see how big of a plow you can pull you will likely overwhelm the cooling system pretty quickly .

This is just a fun project tractor. A parade would be the most work it would ever see. It will most likely just be a conversation piece and putt around the yard for fun.

The diesels usually stay fairly cold unless held at higher rpm from my experience. And I could pull the thermostat out of it too and should help some as well. Also I don't think it would be too hard to make a cap adapter for stock radiator so it could hold pressure and operate like newer one.

I hope so. I'm going to try it first. Worst case it gets a little warm and I shut her down. I will have temp gauge to monitor.
