F20D Charging Question

My F20D has 2 wires in the wiring harness that goes to the front of the tractor. The two wires are just twisted together and out of curiosity when they are taken apart the red charge indicator light (on dash) comes on. Looks like at one time these wires were connected to something, but what? Does anyone know the original purpose of this?

I believe that might have originally been hooked to the battery as a low electrolyte warning. Battery's over here don't have that warning set up. Do you have 4 warning lights? If you have one with a lightning bolt that is the alternator. If you have one with a picture of a battery that is the old electrolyte warning.
