I have an F22D. This is a 2wd/4wd tractor. Bush hogging today in 2wd and lost my rear wheel drive. Switching to 4wd gave me front wheel traction but no rear wheel drive. There's no grinding noise or other unusual noises, just no drive to rear wheels. Before I ship the tractor off to the shop thought I'd quick post for a potential diagnosis/prognosis. Thoughts??

In 2WD, operate so as to move the tractor. Get underneath and see if the driveshaft is turning (pointing to a faulty diff) or not (problem is gearbox or forward shaft connection). (Take precautions against the tractor suddenly recovering.)

Thanks. Most likely beyond my level of competence to repair. I've located a couple repair shops in the So. TN/No. AL area.

I had forgotton, the FX24D I had worked on not only had a broken ring gear tooth but also had sheared the ring gear bolts holding it to the differential carrier. Here is a thread about these repairs if it might be interesting to you. <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.tractor...nmar-fx24d-3.html?highlight=fx24d</LINK_TEXT>

The sheared bolts were the reason it could continue to run in front wheel drive without making rear noise.

Please keep us informed of you findings.
