F235 3pt not operating

I recently replaced the hydraulic pump due to cracked housing. I also replaced the filter obtained from Hoye.
Now the 3pt will not operate in either direction. While the tractor is running I can manual lift the 3pt with no resistance.
The UFO is not connected other then the small joystick for controlling the 3pt. It operated correctly until now.
Other than the filter I don't believe there is a screen to clean for this model.

Since I can lift the 3pt manually does anyone think the problem is mechanical vs. hydraulic?

I openned the Relief Valve & removed the Stop Valve. In both cases hydraulic fluid flowed.

Any suggestions?

BTW: Has anyone ever translated the Japanese on the UFO unit?

Your 3 point and ufo are dependant on fluid flow. If niether operate sounds suspicous about having pressure. When you opened the stop valve and relief valve and had fluid flow am I correct in assuming you mean pressurized fluid.

Yes, the flow was under pressure.
The joystick control is wired to the "control valve" solenoid that is attached to the hydraulic cylinder case. From the UFO unit that is the only wiring that is connected.

This sounds like an Aaron problem. I confess ignorance on your controls. Would love to see some of these units to see just how they work.

I thought that too runningbird, but from the parts manual I have from Hoye and the on-line catalog at FredericksEquipment, I can't find where there is a screen on this model. I have replaced the spin-on filter. Thanks for your input.

i think there is a screen on that model. I have one on a fx22. if you are sitting in the seat it should be on your rt hand side. when you find it, take out the three bolts holding it in place. gently tap with a hammer to break the seal. do not pry or you make break the cover.

it could be sitting behind a brake lever.

I haven't looked at the tractor yet, but I found, in the parts catalog I have from Hoye, an "Oil Strainer" that I assumed was for the motor oil. It shows in the catalog inserting into the right side of the rear axle case; so it must be transmission oil.

I will try to pull that out tomorrow and see what I have.

Aaron, can you confirm that part # 194555-24930 is in fact a hydraulic oil screen for a F235?

that is it, it is about 6" long, and you will loose your fluid when you pull it out.

Do you know why your housing cracked to begin with? That is usually a sign of "dead heading" the pump.

Aaron, I think I did it when I removed my FEL and plugged the two lines instead of connecting them together. Bad move right?

Here are my latest findings:

I pulled the screen and found it remarkably clean. I replaced it and put back approx. 3 gallons of the drained hydfluid. I plan on adding more fresh fluid tomorrow.

After starting the tractor I tried the 3pt with the joystick control. It would not operate. I tried Ernie's suggestion to press the solenoid buttons on the control valve and it worked. The top cylinder raised the 3pt &amp; the bottom one lowered it. I moved it up &amp; down probably 10 times and tried the joystick every few, but the joystick never worked. I disconnected the wires between the joystick &amp; the solenoid and was still able to raise &amp; lower the 3pt. from the solenoid buttons.

I then tried pushing the buttons on the swing solenoid that had no wiring attached &amp; found hydfluid leaking down the back of the casing. Each time i pressed the buttons more flowed. I will need to remove some brackets &amp; framing to see where it is leaking. Since I do not use the swing feature does anyone know if it is possible to disable or discconnect it from the hydraulic lines?

The ground &amp; wiring appeared secure from the control valve. Does anyone have any idea why the joystick would not operate? Would it possibly work after I finish filling with fluid? I don't see any broken wires, but I'm thinking of re-wiring since the current setup has a number of spliced sections.
