F30 throttle linkeage

I bought a 1936 Farmall F30 parts tractor not to long ago, mainly for the others I have. The main rod on top of the hood that controls the spark
advance as it should, also has a control rod on the end that goes to the carburetor, governor tube. I assume the lever in front of the steering
wheel controls the speed etc. I'm not familiar with this setup, does anyone have this or know more about it? Thanks.

That sounds like the single speed governor on my 36 F-20. Its basically either at idle or full speed. Later models had the variable governor and the throttle was moved down next to the fuel tank.

I have a F-30 with the device you describe, along with the variable speed governor low on the fuel tank on the right side. I think it would be handy for decelerating during cultivating when you want to idle down to turn at the end of the row. Then once you get turned around and everything back in the ground, you just flip the lever and you are back at your desired cultivating speed. But I have no idea what its intended purpose is.

That makes sense. I don't think the single speed governor is for me, glad it's a parts tractor. Thanks for the reply 3LFarms.

The rod to the carburetor tube was for the original constant-speed governor. It had to be disconnected when the owner installed a variable-speed governor.
Very few F-series tractors still have the constant speed governor.
They are a Pain to drive!

You are correct F-Dean about the constant speed governor - I've seen very, very few examples of it either at shows or pics on the internet.
