So far today, I've won a $500 gift certificate from Costco, a golf cart from Lowes, and gotten my name in a 'Who's Who' book.

All went directly to the Spam folder.

A few weeks ago there was a lady on the news that works as a scam investigator at a local police department.

She said used to be there was maybe one report a week came through of phone scamming.

Now it's several a day!

The recurring theme is 'Your grandson is in jail, send money...' Along with multiple people conned out of their bank account and credit card information, sweepstakes winners, fake merchandise, etc.

Most victims are the elderly!

Occasionally the thief was caught, but the common thread was she had zero cases of anyone ever getting their money back!
