Fall work is all done

Another follow up question, Jon on the cob corn. Does it get ground and mixed, or fed whole cob? steve
I grind it 1/3 barley 2/3 ear corn with salt and minerals for the cattle. I also grind it 1/3 barley 1/3 ear corn and 1/3 shell corn for the sows as it keeps them from getting constipated as happens with all shell corn.

Thank you. I remember the neighbors running the grinder/mixer a lot but never paid attention to what was going into it. They did have cows and pigs both. I was 8-10 years old. steve

For the first time since I bought this farm the weather allowed me to get all the tillage done this fall. A couple pics of combining and picking corn. 1160 combine and 830 on wagon duty. View attachment 94923

1030 and 16' heavy disc to disc corn stalks. This is a very heavy disc with 24" blades and when it cuts s too much for the 1030. Handled ot fine is stalks.

A couple videos of plowing

Great pics! They remind me so much of when my husband still farmed our land.

Our combine was a JD 55 Corn Special,
Our picker, a JD pulled by our DC 3 Case.
Our plow, a three bottom JD pulled by our 4020 JD.
A lot of work... but good times. I kind of miss it.
