Fan belt size

I have a super A with a non pressurized radiator and no water pump from a early A. The engine is a c123 but the fan belt measures 3/4 x 33.5 which is for a c113. There are various sizes within an inch of what I have now. Should I go with the standard A belt which is slightly smaller than what I have now? I'm guessing the smaller belt puts the fan in a better position to cool the radiator? Also does it matter if the belt is a solid vbelt or if its segmented on the inside of the belt like a snowmobile belt, I've seen them both ways..thanks, Anthony

This is just my opinion, but either belt length is going to work fine. As long as the fan adjustment is not maxed out and the fan is within the shroud (which will be the case if it is within adjustment range) it is going to cool the same.

I bought new belts for my 450 this weekend because I am redoing it and noticed that places listed a couple different fan belt sizes, but all were within an inch of each other, which is well within the adjustment range. I bought the one that was available to me this weekend, put it on and it works fine.

Either type of belt; segmented of solid is going to work fine as well. I think you might get a little more power transfer with the segmented, but this engine is low output and low RPM, it isn't going to make much of a difference. I would use whichever is available to you and most cost-effective.

don't buy the solid one they are too stiff to even install get the segmented type. Don't try to turn the nut next to the head there is a slot for it to slide up and down after the shaft of the fan has been turned loose so the fan can slide down. While you are at the job of replacing the fan belt get a 26.5x 17/32 wide for the generator and install it first

Are you sure that size isnt for the engines with a water pump get the belt for the engine without a water pump as they are shorter.

The water pump belts are 34.25 or slightly larger than that from what I found. Without water pump is 32.25 and mine was 33.5 so I bought the one that was 33 3/8 figuring that's the original size of mine before stretching and I have still have plenty of adjustment in the slot.

I've never had any trouble installing the solid belts. I have 7 Farmall tractors with solid belts and haven't had any issues getting them on or adjusted.
I also have other tractors and equipment including mowers that use solid belts and have not had any trouble installing them either.
