Fan Belt

I still cannot remove the fan belt on my Ford 8N front mount distributor to install a new water pump when I push the generator toward the engine I can go a little distance before I hit the manifold,I cannot find the two pivot bolts on the bottom of the generator someone said to losen,any one have any ideas? Thanks for any help.

A sharp knife? If you seem to have adjustment OUT that may cost a new and a bit longer belt, but it would resolve the issue.

Just take the generator off?

On my '48 8N front mount, if the generator is against the manifold, the belt is loose enough to remove. You had better send some pictures, something does not sound right.
