Fan bevel gear set

I am still in need of a Fan bevel gear set for a John Deere model A. The year is questionable on which ones will work, The tractor I have has no serial number plate but has a cast frame,I think it is a "46" thanks for any help.

Well, according to the parts book (free to download at www.jdparts.com), there were only two sets of gears, one use for S/N 584,000 and up (which is the pressed steel style, late "A", and a set for all those before 584,000. That should make it easier to sort out. Look at the parts book and you will see that the early governor and the late governor had a different bolt pattern in the LH cap, and that can help identify things, too. All sorts of knowledge lies waiting in the parts book.

Have you tried the classifieds here? I always had good luck there as parts dealers read through those quicker than they would come to each forum and sort through messages.

Cast frame is from serial number 522600 through 542699. Late October 42 through June 30th 44. Part of 43 and all of 44 model year.
