Went to a farm sale today close to Johnson, NE
one owner equipment.

4450 - $46,250

1970 3020 - $17,000

1964 3020 - $6,950

6620 SideHill - $28,000

7000 6 row planter - $4,750

Are these pretty comparable prices else where?

$17k for a 3020? Wow, that's a lot. Did it have HFWA? Even if mounted with a brand new high-quality loader a 3020 wouldn't bring near that around here.

There is no QUESTION, the prices reflect the CONDITION and QUALITY sold. Why the amazement it will happen every time, it is the way AMERICA has always been ,its WASHINGTON and the HEAD HUNTERS that has changed and will never be again as it was .Think about it.

Tires ,duals,# of scvs,hours,transmission,A/C working and recent verified work can make several thousand dollars difference.Inflation plus all the computers and plastic in the newer ones have helped older well cared for equiptment,Actually some newer tractors are a much better buy than the older classics.Had the 3020 been an HFWA P.S.it would have brought twice that.Corn at $7and beans @$14+ are also a factor .Land going up by double digits all factor in.If we start getting normal weather things might change too.

It sounds like one owner equipment with exceptional care. I would bet the 4450, combine and 1970 3020 had low hours to boot.
The 1964 3020 and 7000 planter would be close to typical for around here.

JUST MY OPINION
A friend (who is a JD mechanic) and I went to look at these a few weeks ago and drove all three tractors. The 70 3020 was was one of the better origianal tractors I've seen. Still had the original battery boxes and they were still solid. Starting was a little on the slow side. Syncronizers still worked great. Seems a little high to me, but anyone can spend there money as they please.
The 64 3020 powershift was the cheap tractor. Started great, shifted excellent, no oil leaks, and had a ROPS canopy.
NOW, the 4450, in my opinion was way too high. It had several oil leaks including both steering cylinders, both outer front axle seals, front hyd pump, mfwd clutch area, and rear pto. Alternator was not charging and the paint was average ot below with many scratches. It did however have 4 brand new Firestone bias tires on it which cost 43500. I think this was a 35K to 40K max tractor.
