Farmall 100 vs 130

Is there a way to tell a 100 from a 130? I have a 100 so I know what that looks like. I know the 130 had a different paint scheme. What else is different? I just bought what was labeled as a 130 parts tractor but it doesn't have the white grill. Could be several reasons for that. All I've seen is one picture so far as it was an internet auction. I'll be picking it up in a day or so. If what I bought happens to be a Super A I can identify that. I'd like to know if my 130 is a 130. Maybe when I get it it will have a serial number plate. Who knows - maybe its not even a parts tractor although the picture shows a couple of things missing. I have fixed up a lot bigger piece of junk in the past.

There isn't much to go by on general appearance. You may get it and find the serial number stamped in the plate but the model ID (was silk screened) is gone. 130 serial numbers stopped at 10209. So bigger than that would have to be a 100. You can also use the engine number (stamped on block below spark plug #1). Then you can look at date codes on the major castings. A 100 (1954-56) should be Z, A, B while a 130 (1956-'58) should be B, C, D. Be sure to check multiples so you don't ID the tractor from a replacement part.

The font size of the serial numbers themselves are smaller on a 100 than a 130. Easiest way to tell unless the center tube has been changed.

Super A -100 top head is flat . 130-140 head as dimples on intake side. The 130-140 intake manifold throat is shorter

Turns out my parts tractor 130 is really a parts tractor super A. Doesn't matter as I bought it for the attached cultivator parts and I thought maybe it was a super A from the single picture given for it. While there are a few small parts missing it looks like the biggest deal is the motor is set up. I may already have a piston set that will fit it so maybe its not going to stay a parts tractor. Not going to do anything until probably fall - got too many other projects to finish up. One of those projects is to assemble all the cultivator parts I have into a single cultivator for my 100.

The Super A engine blocks came with two different sizes for the sleeve lower bore. Later were larger, like the 100 and later models. Early were smaller like the A. (I suppose you already know that.)

I saw in the parts listing there are two different sets of sleeves for that model. Probably not my luck the set I have fits it but maybe I'll be lucky. Tractor does have the serial number still with it. I have to get it unpainted to read it.

Part number of the engine block will tell you which version of the sleeves you need. The small lower bore is block number 251069R1. The large bore is some later(larger) number(s) I don't have handy.
