Farmall 140

I have a 140 with no carb now when I go to Amazon I see carbs that are supposed to work on everything from an
A to a 140 for about 75 bucks, I go to EBAY and carbs that are supposed to work on the same series of tractors
but they are 300.00 Now I know all about Chinese knockoff stuff but why the big price difference and will a
carb for a Super A work on a 140. We have everything from Fords to Masseys and John Deeres here on our farm and
I gave my buddy my Super A and he gave me the 140 but somehow he had lost the carb when he took it off to
rebuild it 2 years ago.

This web site sells an aftermarket that is supposed to replace the Marvel. I think it is over $300 but it says it will work on everything from an A to a 140. Mine has the original Zenith on it. This website sells an aftermarket Zenith but it is over $400.

The price on the Amazon ones is almost too good to be true. They are cast zinc, not steel or brass, which I am sure saves a lot. Here's a video review of a different model. Watch it and make your decision. Good luck, Dave

Super A and 140 are essentially the same tractor.

I think you need to "lose" the carb from the Super A you traded for the 140, right on to your 140... LOL

Oh, and the only difference on the knockoff carburetors is price. They all came off the same assembly line in the same offshore factory. Go with the cheapest US-based source if you want to try one. Sometimes these are shipped from overseas which can take weeks if it ever shows up.

do not buy anything, that ships from china. when you go to return, the shipping is more cost , than the produt,if you return it

Don't buy it!!!!! We bought a carb once for a snowblower and it wouldn't even run. Buy something that is know to work.

Just find the one that fits,you will have to adjust it (maybe) Look at it like you are buying a kit and they through in a clean carb body. I just plan to take them apart and put them back together anyway.Amazon

Have not needed to work on the carb on my 140 but my advice is to generally stay away fro "compatible" parts unless absolutely necessary. Choose carefully.

I had to do some pretty extensive work on my 140 a few years ago after it had run away and hit a tree.

The aftermarket radiator could not mount like the original even though the manufacturer swore up and down it was identical. I tried a compatible upper radiator hose but it would not fit. The OEM one fit perfectly. The rebuilt generator I purchased works fine though.

Here's the solution:

Buy the $40 cheap carburetor.

Have your buddy put it on his (was your's) Super A.

Put the Super A's carb on your 140.

If he doesn't like the cheap one, then your buddy can find the one he lost and put that one on his tractor.

This is tongue-in-cheek, of course.

I ordered one for my son's 140 off of this site a while back. It is a Zenith. It wasn't cheap, but works flawlessly.
