Farmall 2 brush generator

The 12 volt system on a 450 gas went to two brush (shunt wound
generator) and all tractors after that used them. The three unit
regulator (much better control) was then used when the 06 series
came out.

Another thing here. The three brush generator with high low
charge light switch used a generator with a test bench current
flow of 3.5 to 4.5 amps. Other 6 volt with voltage regulators
had 2.5_ to 2.7 field current draw. A 12 volt generator run
about 1.5 amp draw. Reason you need correct generator for voltage
regulators . The high current draw fields were never intended to
be used with a voltage regulator.
 
In the early fifties they started the later Cs then Hs and Ms one gen used was 1101501 those were some of the first used after 3rd brush and cut-outs

So my 1951 farmall super C should have the 2 brush genotater
 
1100501 is a three brush generator with adjustable third brush. I never saw a two brush generator
on any of those IH tractors until , like I said, the 450. Then they started to substitute 2 brush
for three brush when they ran out of three brush .

Closed end generators are normally three brush and some were boosted up to 20 to 25 amps. I am reading this out of my IH electrical specification book.

Different field current amperage draw , more winding, differet pulleys to change rpm's etc. Wrong generator carrying too much field current and regulator will not last long.

Most rebuilders and eve IH will sell you the same generator weather you have voltage regulator or high low charge switch and that is not correct.
